- Where can I get the latest version?
The latest version can be obtained a few different ways:
1). Off the Web at www.lutron.com/grafikeye/liaisonreg.asp
2). Get a LIAISON installation CD
LIAISON CD is shipped with GRX-PRG or GRX-CI-PRG. You can also order a copy from Lutron.
The latest LIAISON is LIAISON 4.0.
- What are the latest bug fixes?
Bug fixes and feature enhancements can always be viewed by looking at the reference document: the readme.txt. (This document is also distributed with the application.)
- What Operating Systems will work with LIAISON?
LIAISON has been tested on the following operating systems: Windows 95/98, NT/2000, XP and ME.
- What steps should I follow when helping another person with LIAISON software issues?
- First and foremost, always ask the user what version of LIAISON and the PRG is being used.
- Ask the user what the problem is.
- If the version is prior to the current version, cross reference the problem with the Readme to see if the problem has been encountered and fixed in the past.
- If it is discovered that the problem has been fixed in subsequent versions of LIAISON, then tell the user to obtain the latest version of the software. Encourage the user to call back if the problem is not resolved.
- Try to reproduce the problem on your own machine. This step can help enormously when trying to debug a problem.
- Try to isolate the variable as much as possible. Use different tools like System Status screens, Event Logging, etc. etc.
- Try and generate a workaround or fix the problem.
- If you cannot resolve the issue, tell the user you will get back to him/her, and then use the appropriate channels to get support from within Lutron.
- Why am I having problems installing LIAISON?
With most Windows-based software applications, memory-resident applications must be disabled. This includes anti-virus software. Please be sure to quit all applications, and force-quit the anti-virus process. (The latter is often achieved by holding down ctrl-alt-delete.)
If you got "The Win16 Subsystem was unable to enter Protected Mode, DOSX.EXE must be in your AUTOEXEC.NT and present in your PATH. " error during installation, it is related to the Windows configuration of your computer.
Please refer to the following article from Microsoft which explains the error and provides solution.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q103/1/04.asp&NoWebContent=1
- Why am I getting the following error message: "Can’t Locate PRG"?
This error occurs when a connection is being established to a COM Port that doesn’t have a PRG connected to it. Be sure to verify that the COM Port you are selecting is the correct one. Also, make sure the PRG is powered and the LED is on.
- Why am I getting the following error message: "Can’t find mains" or "Error code --5"?
This error occurs, in the most simple case, when there aren’t any GRAFIK Eye 31/41/35 or 4500s on the link.
If you do have units on the link and are still receiving the message, then do the following:
- Verify the communication wiring
- Make sure all units are powered
- If you are using a USB Serial adapter, please check the COM port number of the adapter using Windows Device Manager.
- Make sure that all units are addressed (This step requires entering program-mode on the GRAFIK Eye. Consult label on the unit or contact Lutron tech support for help)
- What should I do if I got "Not Enough Memory" Error (error code 7) while trying to run LIAISON?
There is not enough resource to run LIAISON. First to close some running programs on your computer to free some resources or restart your computer to solve the possible memory leak issue then start the LIAISON program.
If the problem persists, you may need to check your computer memory settings.
- Why am I getting a "Too Few Parameter" error (error code 3061, 6003 etc)?
This issue is related to the language or the regional setting of the Operating System. Customer may experience a "too few parameter" run time error while running LIAISON under Spanish Windows 98 or French Windows 98. This issue is fixed in Liaison 4.0.
- Why am I getting a "3049" runtime error?
This is because the program cannot open a database or the database file is corrupted.
The user can reinstall the LIAISON software to recover the databases that are distributed with LIAISON. (Please note this step cannot recover the user LIAISON project file.)
It may also happen when there is not enough disk space to run LIAISON on the user’s computer.
- How can I connect to a GRX-PRG, if there is only USB port on my computer?
You can use USB Serial adapter to connect you computer to a GRX-PRG.
Disable the "Power Save feature" of the USB port on the Laptop. Otherwise the unit will appear to work for a while and then power down while the laptop is powered off battery. (For Windows XP: Go to Device Manager (Control Panel -> Hardware), select USB devices, Open it's Properties, Uncheck the box that allows "power down the device when in battery mode.")
- Why some SeeTouch or European accessory controls are shown as NTGRX controls in online mode or after decompiling?
If the only difference between certain SeeTouch controls, European controls and the corresponding NTGRX controls is their physical appearance, the style information is not provided to LIAISON from the hardware.
So these SeeTouch or European accessory controls will be shown as corresponding controls of other style (i.e. NTGRX-xx). The function and the programming of the controls are correct. And the controls can be programmed via LIAISON correctly.
- What should I do if I only need LIAISON for Timeclock related programming?
LIAISON offers a Timeclock Only option. For a Timeclock Only project, LIAISON provides a simplified menu, toolbar and Transfer option screen to do only Timeclock related programming.
The user can create a Timeclock Only project or convert a Programmable System project to a Timeclock Only project.
- To create a Timeclock Only project:
On the File menu select New, on the New Screen, select Timeclock Only Option.
- To convert a Programmable System project to Timeclock Only project:
On the File menu, select Convert Project Type: Programmable System -> Timeclock Only. (You can always convert the project back to Programmable System project later.)
- What is Partial transfer? What can I do if I don’t want to overwrite the whole system?
Before transferring to the system, the user can select Complete Transfer or Partial Transfer on the Transfer Option Screen. When Partial Transfer is selected, the user can specify what to transfer using the Transfer Option screen.
If the user does not want to overwrite the whole system, Partial Transfer can be used and only the user selected parts will be transferred to the system.
