Candidate Privacy Notice

Lutron understands that your privacy is important to you and that you care about how your personal information is used during the application and recruitment process.

This Privacy Notice describes the categories of personal data that we collect, how we use your personal data, how we secure your personal data, when we may disclose your personal data to third parties, and when we may transfer your personal data outside of your home jurisdiction. This Privacy Notice also describes your rights regarding the personal data that we hold about you including how you can access, correct, and request erasure of your personal data. This Privacy Notice applies to job applicants only.

Nothing in this notice is intended to create an employment relationship between you and a Lutron group company.

For what purpose do we collect the above information?

We use the assembled information to evaluate your candidacy for employment to include:

  • Candidate screening including assessing skills, qualifications, and interests for the purposes of determining suitability for the position for which you have applied,
  • Communicating with you about the process and your application,
  • Preparing Lutron interviewers,
  • Communicate with you,
  • Communicate with any provided references,
  • Verify educational achievements,
  • Verify your immigration status towards employment in a defined country, and
  • Diversity monitoring initiatives and to submit required reports to government agencies
    (example: aggregated information regarding gender, ethnicity, and veteran status of applicants).
  • Keeping records relating to our hiring processes
  • Compliance with legal, regulatory or other corporate governance requirements
  • Analyzing and improving our application and recruitment process
 
We obtain the personal information listed above from the following categories of sources:

Directly. For example: When we speak with you.

Indirectly and from third parties. For example: we may ask that you complete aptitude or similar testing as part of the candidacy process, we may review any publicly available profile such as LinkedIn, or information provided to us from a third party recruitment agency.

From activity on our recruiting website. For example: Information you provide to us via our recruiting website.

“Cookies” information. Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored by a user's web browser when accessing a web site. Cookies are part of the flow of information between hardware devices and web browsers.

With Whom May We Share Your Personal Data?

Naturally, candidacy information will be shared within the Lutron organization such as with hiring managers and interviewers. We take your privacy seriously and will not share your personal data with others, except in the following circumstances:

  1. Service providers. We may disclose your personal data to third-party service providers such as: recruitment companies working on our behalf, testing companies providing us with services in evaluating your candidacy, and travel providers assisting in arranging travel logistics for any on-site interviews.

  2. Our other group entities. We may disclose your personal data to our other Lutron group companies.

  3. Legal reasons. We may use or disclose your personal data as we deem necessary or appropriate under applicable laws; to respond to requests from governmental and regulatory authorities; to comply with court orders, litigation procedures, and other legal processes; to obtain legal remedies or limit our damages; to protect the operations of Lutron group entities; and to protect the rights, safety, or property of our employees, you, or others.

  4. Lutron does not, and will not, sell your information in a traditional sense. i.e., for money. However, some laws define “sell” very broadly to include activities like sharing your information to perform certain types of analytics or to provide a more targeted and personal ad experience. This website does not use targeting cookies and your information will not be shared for the purpose of targeted advertising.

For security reasons, we will need to verify that the person initiating a data request is authorized.

For privacy inquiries, generally we will verify you by confirming at least two (2) pieces of your provided personal information with information maintained by Lutron. Depending on the nature of your request we may need to implement heightened processes to verify your identity. Should you use an authorized agent to initiate a data request on your behalf, you will need to coordinate the sending of the required account verification information to us with your authorized agent.

You will not receive a differing level of service if you initiate a data request; initiating a request will not impact your candidacy. Naturally, if you request erasure, you will no longer be considered for positions with Lutron.

How long do we keep your personal data & how do we protect it?

For candidates accepting employment with us we will retain your personal data for the duration of employment plus any additional time to meet legal requirements.

For candidates not becoming employed with us, we will keep your information on file for generally 2 years. However, if we believe we need to retain personal data to respond to a legal inquiry, we may retain the data for a longer period.

Lutron takes security very seriously and we follow industry best practices around securing data, monitoring for potential abuse, and updating systems. We do not collect more personal data than we need to fulfill our purposes stated in this Privacy Notice, and we will not retain it for longer than necessary.

This website is directed solely at adults; it is not intended to be accessed by minors.

During the course of the recruitment process, we may provide you links to third party websites such as to a third-party aptitude testing services. Clicking on links to third party websites may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. When you leave our website, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.
