NEW Roller 300 with Lutron Intellegent Façade Technology (LIFT)

Control an entire bay of shades all on one drive

Coopersburg PA (May 17 2012) – Light control manufacturer Lutron Electronics today announced the new roller 300 drive with Lutron Intelligent Façade Technology (LIFT). The company’s latest innovation in automated shading solutions is capable of controlling 300 square feet of fabric from just one low-voltage shade drive. LIFT offers the highest value in dynamic shading today by offering affordable control of an entire bay of shades combined with the best low-voltage shading technology available.

Designed to fit within the Lutron standard 5” pocket LIFT is a coupled shade system that uses the new roller 300 low-voltage drive and will operate up to six 5’x10’ panels of Lutron’s Classico commercial roller shade fabric. The shades are extremely quiet so they will move without disrupting activity in the space. With the ability to control sheer dual-sided and blackout fabrics LIFT is a versatile shading system ideal for curtain-wall applications in commercial office buildings hospitals universities and more.

LIFT operates with the simple press of a button or via Hyperion solar-adaptive technology which automatically responds to changing daylight levels and environmental conditions for a balance of comfort and energy savings. The shade panels on each LIFT system as well as adjacent shades will always raise and lower in perfect alignment providing visual appeal from all angles. The use of one versus multiple shade drives to cover the same space also has economic advantages from both material and labor standpoints.

While automated shades are not specifically required in commercial building construction building and energy codes dictate that buildings must employ some form of daylight control whether through dynamic (i.e. automated shading systems) or static (i.e. fixed overhangs) means. LIFT with the roller 300 can:
  • Earn LEED points and contribute to LEED certification
  • Help meet current and future requirements for industry regulation
  • Assist in qualifying installations for regional rebates and incentives

Both dynamic and static daylight control meet the stipulations of ASHRAE 189 which calls for reducing cooling loads and thereby saving energy. However automated shades – such as LIFT with the roller 300 – have clear benefits over passive shading strategies:
  • They eliminate the need for obtrusive light ledges on a building’s exterior
  • Unlike manual shades which are rarely adjusted automated shades respond to the changing light levels in a space to optimize occupant productivity comfort and views

Features of the roller 300 include:
  • Torque = 60 in-lbs
  • Linear speed = 3.6”/sec
  • Audible noise <50 dBA
  • Lutron Intelligent Hembar Alignment (IHA) option
LIFT is featured at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Convention and Design Expo May 17 – 19 in Washington DC. It will be available in the Lutron Shade Configuration tool for quoting in early June and will ship in Late June 2012.
