What is an equipment area in LCP128?
An equipment area is the equivalent of an electrical closet. Use equipment rooms to represent the room where all of the circuits for a particular area should be wired. For example, you might one equipment room for each floor of two-story restaurant.
What is an Adaptive 4A module and how do I choose to use one in LCP128?
The Adaptive 4A module can adapt to the type of load it attached to. It has the flexibility to control Incandescent, Magnetic Low Voltage, Electronic Low Voltage, Neon/CC, and Lutron ELV (230V and 220-240V) loads.
There are two ways to choose a 4A module in a modular LCP128 system. First, when defining your loads, you can select a load type of Adaptive. All loads of type Adaptive will always go on an Adaptive module. Alternatively, you can define you load types as they exist in the space: ie. Incandescent, Magnetic Low Voltage, etc. Then, when you specify the system, set the dimming option to "Always use Adaptive Modules for all compatible loads."
Where do I set the Project ID/Number?
The Project ID is set in the Project Settings, which appears when starting a new project. You can also access the Project Settings after starting a project by selecting Edit-> Project Settings from the menus.
How do I add Additional (Custom) Write-In Bill of Material items?
Additional Line items can be added on the Additional Line Items tab of the Equipment Schedule. The Equipment Schedule can be accessed by selecting Edit-> Equipment Schedule from the menus.
Is SoftSwitch128 with 512 zones the same as SoftSwitch512?
SoftSwitch128 and SoftSwitch512 are two separate systems. SoftSwitch128 uses the XPS controller to do all of the system programming. This system has been expanded to handle 512 zones in up to 16 panels. SoftSwitch512 requires an additional processor to do the programming and is not the same as SoftSwitch128.
How do I choose to use SpecGrade LCP128 panels?
To obtain a system containing SpecGrade LCP128 panels, you must select the appropriate options from the "Specify Preferences" screen.
You can do this by clicking "Specify->View Specify Preferences". Once the "Specify Preferences" screen is visible, click on the "SpecGrade Performance " option in the "System Definition" section of the screen.
When I export SpecGrade LCP panel drawing to dxf, why are the panels very small?
Please upgrade to the latest version of Designer to correct the image sizes.
Why do I get an error message when I attempt to upgrade from a previous version on Windows 98SE?
Under certain unknown circumstances, you may experience installation issues on Windows 98SE computers while upgrading from previous versions of GRAFIK Eye Desinger. If you should encounter this issue, try reinstalling GRAFIK Eye Designer 6.6. If you still have problems, please contact Lutron Technical Support in the US at 1 800 523 9466.
2000W Load Rating for Dimmers on 20A Breakers
Lutron has changed the maximum load ratings on all Commercial Dimmers rated in watts from 1920 Watts to 2000 Watts. This decision was based on the fact that the dimmer circuit has a voltage drop across the triac and choke. Even at full conduction the losses in the dimmer reduce the output voltage to 115V on a 120V AC line. On a dimmed circuit with a default high end setting this voltage drops to 113V. As a result the measured current with a 2000W load on the output of the dimmer is always below 16 Amps and meets the NEC requirements for the maximum current draw on a 20A branch breaker. This condition has always been true for our commercial dimmers. The reason to take advantage of this fact is to give the customer the ability to fully load the dimmer to its true 16A rating. It should also simplify the load schedule to use loads that are even multiples of 100W, 200W, 250W and 500W. This affects products such as GRAFIK Eye, GP Panels, SpecGrade LCP128 Panels, and 4U modules.
How do I get a 3500/4500 series GRAFIK Eye without getting a GRX-PRG?
In order to obtain a system that has 3500/4500 series GRAFIK Eye units and does not have a GRX-PRG, you must select the appropriate options from the "Specify Preferences" screen.
You can do this by clicking "Specify->View Specify Preferences". Once the "Specify Preferences" screen is visible, click on the "PC Programmable Main Units" option in the "Control Interface Options" section ofthe screen.
Why can't I add Occupancy Sensors on the Equipment screen?
After adding Occupancy Sensors on the System Accessories tab of the Equipment screen, you may see a message box asking for more GRX-AV units (each can handle 5 Occupancy Sensors). The message suggests two ways to fix this: add more GRX-AV units or remove unnecessary Occupancy Sensors.
You may have added enough GRX-AV units for the Occupancy Sensors but still get this message. If that is the case, check that the GRX-AV function is set to either "Occ. Sensor Scn1/Off" or "Occ. Sensor Off Only" in the Function column on the Wallstations and Control Interfaces tab. Also verify that the GRX-AV units and the Occupancy Sensors are in the same room.
NOTE: Occupancy Sensors are listed on the BOM but not shown on OneLine Diagrams.
How do I add Power Packs for my Occupancy Sensors?
There is no need to add Power Packs; Designer automatically adds them to the BOM. Neither Power Packs nor Occupancy Sensors are shown on the OneLine Diagrams.
Why can't I add a GRX-IRPS on the Equipment screen?
The answer is similiar to another one listed here: Why can't I add Occupancy Sensors on the Equipment screen?
In this case, the GRX-AV function must be set to "Partition Status Maint. In.".For Designer 6.0, you may also wonder: Why do I get a blank message box when I add a GRX-IRPS?
How do I add the SG-SVC control to my project?
To get the SG-SVC (Sivoia QED interface), you have to put a Sivoia QED load type in the load schedule for one of the zones.
Designer specifies all motorized window treatment controls (SG-SVC and GRX-4M) and lighting load interfaces (PB, ELVI, FDBI, TVI, and HP) based on the circuit info (like load type and wattage) entered in the load schedule.
How do I get Designer to assign the loads to GRAFIK Eye units in the order I entered them?
Designer will balance loads by default, effectively minimizing the amount of equipment required. In doing so, the loads can appear randomized on the outputs. If you need loads specified as entered, select the "Specify Loads Sequentially" option when you specify the project.
Whenever I start Designer, my internet connection window pops up. How do I stop this?
This can be caused by your web browser trying to dial for a connection. If you are using Internet Explorer as your web browser, select "Tools" then "Internet Options" in the menu bar. On the Connections tab, select "Never dial a connection".
How do I put more than one circuit on a zone?
On the Load Schedule, click the Edit button for an existing zone. A schedule (grid) will appear in another window. Add additional circuits for the same zone here.
NOTE: Your load schedule is zone-based if you don't have an Edit button. In that case, Designer calculates the number of circuits for you.
Why are the buttons blank in the Edit Transformer Loss Screen?
The edit transformer loss screen allows you to edit the boost percentages for each load type. On some computers, the buttons appear blank due to a bug in the software (see picture on left). In English, the buttons should read "Help", "OK", and "Cancel" (see picture on right). This is only a display issue; the buttons work properly.
Why do I get a blank message box when I add a GRX-IRPS?
The box pops up because an IRPS unit requires a GRX-AV with its function set to "Partition Status Maintained Inputs" in the same room as the IRPS unit. The box is blank due to a bug in the software. If you get this blank box, add a GRX-AV in the same room as the IRPS unit and change its function to "Partition Status Maintained Inputs".
Why can't I find the DXF files in the folder I choose to export to?
When exporting from the Print/Export screen, the software asks for a destination folder. The software will create a new folder with the name of your project in that destination folder.
If your project name contains a period "." symbol, there is a bug in software in which files do not export properly. As a workaround, you can remove all period symbols from the project name. To do this, go to the Project Settings window and under Project Information change the name of the project.
When I specify a room with 4 circuits, I get a GP 8. How do I get a GP 4?
In order to get a GP-4, you have to change your default mini panel preference to say "GP 4 (Feed Through)". You can do this by clicking "Specify->View Specify Preferences". Once the Specify Preferences screen is visible, click on the "Panel Options" tab.
In the section that reads "Mini Panels", click on the GP 4 (Feed Through) option. Close the screen by clicking "OK" and then respecify.
How do I separate zones onto several GRAFIK Eye Units?
If you want multiple GRAFIK Eyes that can communicate with each other, you must separate the Zones on your Load Schedule into several Rooms. For example, in the picture below, you may have 24 zones in your system, 10 of which are controlled by the Balcony unit, 10 by the Front desk, and four by the Side office. The Specified solution will contain two GRAFIK Eye units controlling 10 zones each, and one GRAFIK Eye unit controlling four zones.
The zones may also be separated by placing them in multiple GRAFIK Eye systems, but the systems can not communicate with each other.
There are some known issues with uninstalling previous versions of Designer. Most of these issues can be resolved by simply installing the latest version of Designer. If you need further assistance, please call Lutron's Technical Assistance Hotline.
Why do I have to re-register for the 5.0.31 patch to 5.0.29?
