A: Maestro fan controls works with indoor ceiling-mounted paddle fans with 1.0A motor current or less. Maestro Fan Controls cannot be used with exhaust, ventilation, bathroom or outdoor fans.
Q: Is this a fully variable fan speed product?
A: No, this is a 7-speed, quiet fan control.
Q: My fan only has three speeds. Will I be able to use this seven-speed control?
A: Yes.
Q: What happens when there is a power outage?
A: All Maestro controls have power-failure memory. If there is a power outage, the controls will return to their previous fan speed and light level when power is restored.
Q: Is multi-location control available?
A: Yes, Maestro fan/light and fan only controls are for use with up to two accessory controls.
Q: How many fans can I control with my Maestro Fan/Light?
A: The Fan/Light control operates one ceiling fan with a light.
Q: What kind of lighting can I control?
A: Any incandescent or halogen lighting up to 300W total.
Q: How many fans can I control with the Maestro fan only control?
A: The Maestro fan only is for use with up to four 1.0 A fans. Each fan requires its own canopy module.
Q: Do I need to derate the product in multi-gang applications?
A: Maestro fan and fan/light controls do not require derating in multi-gang installations. You can still use the full rated load even if you have to remove side sections during installation.
Q: The wall control says it is rated for 3.5 A. If I only have 100W of light connected to my fan/light canopy module, can I add another fan since it will still be less than 3.5 A?
A: No, while the wall control is rated for 3.5 A, the canopy module is only rated for 1.0 A for fan and 300W for light.
Q: Can I use two canopy modules to control one 2.0 A fan?
A: No.
Q: Will the Maestro fan controls trip my Arc Fault Breakers?
A: No.
Q: My fan does not have a down-rod or flush-mount bracket like the ones pictured. Will I be able to install the canopy module?
A: The canopy module is designed to fit in most fan brackets using methods similar to those pictured. Because of the variety of styles used by different manufacturers, we cannot guarantee the module will fit in every fan.
Q: The instructions indicate the Maestro fan/light control will not work with fans that have a control system built into the motor. How can I tell if my fan has a control system built into the motor?
A: If a fan/light fixture has only two wires coming from it (live and neutral), it probably has a built-in control system.
