Brooklyn, NY

Background

When the trailblazing creatives at internationally renowned architecture firm BIG outgrew their Manhattan workspace, there was little question as to who would design and plan their next location—they would do the honors themselves. Having secured 50,000 square feet in a historic waterfront factory in the bustling creative hub of DUMBO, Brooklyn, the team got to work.

The Solution

The idea was to build a space that felt generous—and after six months of renovation, they did. Featuring lofty white interiors, glass walls and doors, concrete floors, and large windows on all sides, the space’s industrial modern aesthetics invite inspiration, ideation and interaction—in addition to giving the 250-person team plenty of room to grow.

Results

Complementing the ample natural light are Ketra lamps, used in custom globe fixtures designed by the BIG team themselves. From the main lobby and passageways to select conference rooms and the spacious cafeteria, Ketra’s high-quality light creates the perfect environment for even more of the unconventional thinking and unbridled collaboration that put BIG on the map.
