Wider Shades, New Palladiom Finishes Among Innovations for Lutron’s Industry-Leading Automated Shades Platform

Innovations mean greater performance, more design solutions for flagship Sivoia shades family

COOPERSBURG, PA (September 12, 2019) – In 1993, Lutron revolutionized the way we interact with natural light in our homes with the introduction of the Sivoia quiet motorized shade. Nearly 30 years and dozens of innovations later, this flagship shade family is an integral part of most dealers’ businesses. Today, Lutron is pleased to announce additional capabilities within this trusted and reliable product line, making Lutron shades a perfect solution for even more windows.

Lutron Roller 64: wider shades in smaller spaces
The Roller 64 product family is now available with WIDR technology, which can support shades up to 12 feet wide, and it can fit into a 4-inch square pocket. These shades can be built narrower than ever -- down to 17.5 inches, an inch slimmer than its previous iteration.

In recent years, architecture has been trending towards more simplistic, open spaces that have larger windows to maximize natural light and invite views of the outdoors. Normally, covering wider windows requires the use of larger systems that require large, recessed mounting spaces. By using WIDR technology with Sivoia, dealers and installers can use the smallest mounting space possible, and still cover those beautiful, wide windows.

In addition, reoptimized drive technology has made the shade stronger and quieter than ever. “Lutron established the benchmark of the quiet motorized shade, and we are constantly innovating,” said Sam Chambers, Senior Director- Residential Systems, at Lutron. “We’ve taken the quietest shades on the market – a mere 38 dBA – and further optimized the drive, resulting in a measurement of 35 dBA for the entire shade. That’s virtually silent.”

Lutron continues to differentiate in the shading category in other ways -- defining new aesthetics and broadening the capabilities of its trusted existing solutions with best-in-class automated shade performance and outstanding reliability.

New Palladiom Shade Bracket Finishes
Lutron is also debuting three new shade bracket finishes for its Palladiom line. The finishes complement warmer tones and are available with a half-wrap architectural bottom bar with matching metal endcaps, and extended brackets to support larger roll-up diameters. These featured finishes include Brass, Satin Graphite and Opal White.

“These new finishes demonstrate Lutron’s commitment to the design community. Window treatments are ultimately a design element in a home, and we never stop innovating in this category,” says Chambers. “It’s why we remain the leader in shades. When you have such an important and illustrious brand, you want to add to its strengths. We believe our dealers and customers will be impressed by Sivoia’s latest innovations.”
